In my best moments, the realization that happiness, much like harmony, is a learnable skill. It’s not just given to you and it doesn’t owe you anything. You have to fight for it, protect it, nourish it, understand it, work on it, but also know deep down that you can’t hold on to it any more than you can trap the light inside your hand. When it’s there, you’re blessed and when it’s not, you become more appreciative and learn what it means to be human.
